5G NTN with Satellite Connectivity

5G wireless technology is evolving to support non-terrestrial networks (NTN) using enhanced low earth orbit (LEO), medium earth orbit (MEO) and geostationary earth orbit (GEO) satellite technology which utilises FR1 and FR2 bands including S-band, L-band, Ku-band, Ka-band and E-band with feeder links utilising mmWave radio spectrum. 

The terminal device or user equipment (UE) such as a standard 5G mobile phone will directly connect to satellite which will significantly improve communication with increased data bandwidth speeds for wireless broadband using the new LEO satellites services enabling lower latency for voice and data communication to provide connectivity in any location across the globe and ideal for remote and rural locations with no mobile coverage.
